This Phone Hack is a Game Changer, Your Life may Depend on it!

One word for you: Algorithm. If you fix the algorithm on the apps you use daily, you can increase the percentages of getting more value out of your phone. Getting more value out of your phone can increase your success in whatever goals you are trying to accomplish.

Why does this even matter?

If you are constantly looking at your phone, then most likely this will matter to you.

In case you are unsure what an algorithm is, below is a brief description I found with a quick google search so I can better explain it. If you know what it is then skip along to the picture.

According to sproutsocial.com “Social media algorithms are a way of sorting posts in a user’s feed based on relevancy instead of publishing time. Social networks prioritize which content a user sees in their feed first by the likelihood that they’ll actually want to see it.”

According to digitalmarketinginstitute.com, they say that “algorithms help maintain order and assist in ranking search results and advertisements”

To put it in other words, the social media sites we use have a program (an algorithm) that has been instructed to show us what we see on our screen depending on what we clicked on, and what it thinks we will like. Its job is to try and keep you, the user, logged in to the application for as long as possible

This is pretty important considering most of us use our phone quite often, it’s essentially part of us now, as an extension of the self (which is crazy on how standard this is nowadays). This little pocket computer, where you get a lot of your daily information, can control your life if you are not careful.

Ultimately, what you are thinking will dictate your actions and your actions will generate results, and those results shape your life. So, yeah, your thoughts are pretty important and the content you are consuming is equally as important.

Your thoughts are constantly evolving to new ones and you get plenty of stimulation from your surroundings and the people around you. However, quietly, without you realizing it, the screen has been having a big influence on your daily life, choices, and decision-making. You are listening to so many different humans’ opinions on a variety of subjects that it can get overwhelming and start feeling stressful and even confusing.

This is why breaks are so important so you can have time to think for yourself and be clear on your beliefs, your goals, and perspectives.

Quality Thoughts.

Whether you realize it or not, you are getting a lot of ideas, thoughts, inspirations, and emotions from the content you are reading, listening to, or watching on your screen. Some of it is good, productive, useful, and educational but on the flip side, lots of it is destructive, negative, self-degrading, fake and simply put: pure garbage.

The quality of your thoughts could depend on what is in your feed, whether it’s subscription networks, social media, or video platforms, they all have algorithms put in place by a little team of a few people in an office somewhere, probably in Silicon Valley. These people control the programs that show you what it thinks you will like, but does it benefit you? I don’t know, you tell me.

Besides putting your phone down for a while to take a break from all the mental stimulation, changing your algorithm on purpose, to your desired content, is the next best thing to do.

Step 1

Clean up your content, your feed. Use whatever tools you can, unfollow, block without compassion, see less often, check settings, mute, and whatever else these platforms offer to help control your feed into something less toxic and more appealing for your mind. Make this the mission, don’t get caught up with the garbage content while cleaning though, you may wake up like 30 minutes later forgetting that you were even cleaning your feed just cause you were being entertained.

If you don’t want to change your accounts, you can always make a new one tailored to specific subjects or industries.

Step 2

Get the algorithm to work for you. Let it send you the type of content that will benefit you, one way or another. Change it up and purposely search for the topics you like and click on a few videos or posts, start training your algorithm to show you what you need. Take advantage of this as it can have some good results.

I remember when I was learning how to code, I opened up a Twitter account to follow programmers and different figures in the coding world so I could have my thoughts full of coding info, instead of just seeing a bunch of random posts. This constantly helped me get more information from the pros and assisted in learning more about the industry.
